Hong Kong China News Service, April 23 (Reporter Xu Jiayi) The Hong Kong Airport Authority announced on the 23rd that Hong Kong International Airport’s passenger volume reached 12.7 million in the first quarter of this year, a surge of 81.7% compared with the low base in the same period last year; aircraft movements were The number of flights increased by 63.7% year-on-year to 86,200; cargo volume increased by 18.9% year-on-year to 1.1 million metric tons.

Passenger traffic in March reached 4.36 million, a year-on-year increase of 56.7%; aircraft movements were 29,800, a year-on-year increase of 8.2%. The Airport Authority said that all categories of passenger traffic at the airport increased, partly benefiting from the Easter holiday that began at the end of March. Among them, flights to and from Southeast Asia, Mainland China and Japan recorded significant increases during the month.

Cargo volume in March increased by 15.1% year-on-year to 428,000 metric tons, with exports continuing to be the main driver, recording a year-on-year growth of 23.7%. Among the major trading regions, freight volumes to and from North America, Europe and the Middle East saw the largest increases. (over)
