The 49th Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions officially concluded earlier. The Hong Kong delegation won more than 350 awards this year, the most ever; while the Chinese delegation participated in 197 inventions, including 70 97 projects won gold medals and 97 projects won silver medals.
According to “Radio Television Hong Kong”, this year’s Hong Kong delegation is the largest in terms of participation size and number of awards. This year’s Hong Kong delegation consists of 700 people from universities, R&D centers, R&D laboratories, technology companies, government departments, and primary and secondary schools. Members of several organizations have received more than 350 awards, the most ever.
The Hong Kong Electrical and Mechanical Services Department sent members to participate in the delegation and won 7 gold medals, 10 silver medals and 4 bronze medals at the Invention Exhibition. According to a press release issued by the Hong Kong Government Press Gazette, the gold award-winning projects of the Hong Kong Electrical and Mechanical Services Department are “tunnel driving positioning system”, “smart sound detection and analysis system”, and “water-based artificial intelligence robot for wetland detection and rapid response to invasive alien species” ”, “Spherical robot assisting inspection and rescue work”, “EnviroSense – intelligent environmental monitoring and safety assessment system”, “Artificial intelligence railway regulatory inspection planning system”, “Fire truck fire fighting tools and rescue equipment asset management system”.

The MTR Corporation also won 21 awards at this year’s Invention Exhibition, and its “Smart Operation and Maintenance” project successfully won the gold medal. According to “Radio Television Hong Kong”, this project can strengthen the MTR’s monitoring of infrastructure, trains and signaling systems to improve service quality.
The International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva was founded in 1973. It is an international exhibition co-organized by the Swiss federal government, the Geneva state government, the Geneva municipal government and the World Intellectual Property Organization to provide a platform for inventors to display their inventions.
