Hong Kong Observatory predicts thunderstorms may continue until Labor Day

2024-04-22 15:42 | Source of manuscript: Hong Kong News Network

Hong Kong News Network, April 22 (Xinhua) Affected by a low-pressure trough, Hong Kong has continued to experience showers and squally thunderstorms in recent days. The Observatory predicted on the 22nd that the weather will remain unstable in the middle and late part of this week; it will be mostly cloudy on Labor Day on May 1, with a few showers and thunderstorms in some areas.

It will be cloudy in Hong Kong that day, with showers and squally thunderstorms, and the rain may be heavy at times. The reporter started from the North District of the New Territories, passed through Kowloon, and saw rain all the way to the Southern District of Hong Kong Island. The streets were crowded with people holding umbrellas. Many citizens simply went out without umbrellas and wore waterproof windbreakers. The Observatory predicts that due to the influence of a low pressure trough, there will be heavy showers and squally thunderstorms in the coastal areas of Guangdong on the 23rd. The trough of low pressure is expected to move slightly away from the coastal areas on the 24th, and there will still be a few showers in the area. As the South China coast is again affected by a trough of low pressure later this week, the weather in the area is unstable, with occasional thunderstorms. (over)
