ANTEC C5 ARGB Mid-Tower Chassis

ANTEC launches a new C5 ARGB Mid-Tower case, which adopts Panoramic + dual-chamber design, which can display the hardware inside the case at 90° without blind spots, supports back-plugged motherboards, comes with 7 ARGB fans and hubs, and supports dual 360mm water cooling , priced at only HK$699, and available in black and white colors for users to choose from, it is not an exaggeration to say that it is the back-mounted panoramic chassis of choice for civilians.

ANTEC has launched the C8 panoramic chassis earlier, but the C5 ARGB is not simply a smaller version of the C8. Although it also uses a seamlessly connected front glass panel and left glass panel, the C5 ARGB has a small gap between the front panel glass and the side fan. An ARGB light bar is added in the middle, and the front panel adopts a bevel design. The overall feeling is less angular than the C8, and support for back-plugged motherboards is also added.

The metal panel on the right has a large number of air holes, mainly for the fan and power supply on the side. However, the side panels on both sides are opened in a more traditional way, which requires pulling towards the rear end of the chassis, and there is no anti-falling screw design, which reflects that the chassis is positioned to be relatively affordable.

The ANTEC C5 ARGB chassis I/O Panel is located on the top right, providing a Power switch button, LED light effect control button, 2 USB 3.0 Type A 5Gbps ports, 1 USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C 10Gbps port, and 3.5mm headphones and microphone audio interface.

ANTEC C5 ARGB is made of SPCC cold-rolled steel plate and ABS plastic material, with dimensions of 469mm x 285mm x 400mm. It can support Mini-ITX, Micro-ATX and ATX motherboards, and supports CPU radiators up to 160mm.

Back-plugged motherboards have recently been officially transformed from concept products into reality. Compared with traditional motherboards, back-plugged motherboards hide most of the wires on the back of the chassis, making the front of the chassis look more beautiful and making it easier for users to access the chassis directly from the back. Plug, unplug and organize wires. At present, ASUS and MSI have successively launched back-plug motherboards. However, since the interfaces of back-plug motherboards are located on the back of the motherboard, general cases are not equipped with wiring holes for back-plug motherboards, so the interfaces will be blocked. The motherboard cannot be installed, so the back-plug motherboard requires a specific chassis. The ANTEC C5 ARGB case has specially opened holes for mATX and ATX back-plug motherboards, making it one of the few cases on the market that is compatible with back-plug motherboards. At the same time, the two board manufacturers sometimes have holes in the interface positions on the back. There is a slight difference. ANTEC designed the openings to ensure that the chassis can support back-mounted motherboards from two motherboard manufacturers.

In terms of graphics cards, the ANTEC C5 ARGB chassis supports graphics cards up to 410 mm long and has 7 PCIe expansion slots. The PCIe blanks are reusable and there is no built-in support for vertical installation between the PCIe blanks. At the same time, users need to pay attention to the fact that the inside of the front of the chassis is relatively narrow. If the user plans to use some wider 40 series graphics cards (eg ASUS ROG STRIX) with a 12VHPWR adapter cable, the cable may hit the glass side panel.

ANTEC C5 ARGB adopts Dual Chamber internal design, with the motherboard installation area on the left and the power supply and storage area on the right. The advantage of the dual-compartment design is that the dual-compartment chassis is usually shorter than the traditional layout chassis, and there is enough space on the cable management layer to easily organize the wires.

The power supply is installed on the back of the motherboard and supports ATX power supplies up to 240mm long. In addition, the depth of the cable management slot is 95mm. Whether you are a novice or not, this design also greatly reduces the difficulty of installation. There is also a slot at the bottom. A detachable shielding bracket can be used to hide the ugliness, and it is also a 2.5-inch SSD mounting bracket.

ANTEC C5 ARGB comes with 1 set of ARGB lighting and PWM fan controller, providing 8 ARGB addressable lighting interfaces and 8 4-pin PWM fan interfaces. The lighting mode can be switched in real time through the buttons on the I/O panel. , or connect to the 3 Pin ARGB interface of the motherboard to synchronize the lighting effects of the entire host through software, but it needs to be connected to a set of SATA power supply to use it.

The bottom supports 3 120mm fans, supporting up to 240/360mm water cooling radiators. It is pre-installed with 3 120mm ARGB PWM reverse-blade fans. In addition to providing more direct heat dissipation for the graphics card, the reverse-blade design can also hide the fan frame, making the interior of the chassis more comfortable. It looks more beautiful.

Editor’s comment:

Who says you have to choose one or the other between cost-effectiveness and appearance? ANTEC C5 ARGB is a very cost-effective panoramic chassis. First of all, it looks good, and it has 7 pre-installed ARGB fans, comes with ARGB and fan controllers, supports dual 360mm water cooling, and the price is not much. The case supports mATX and ATX back-plug motherboards. The price of HK$699 is not expensive for a panoramic case from a major manufacturer. It is definitely an affordable, high-spec panoramic case.
